Little Dragon turn remixers on Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s “Little Blu House”

“Little Dragon is a funky experimental pop four-piece from Sweden. Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a little harder to nail down, but it’s a psychedelic side project created by a New Zealander living in Portland, Oregon. It’s either totally bizarre or absolute destiny that their sounds meld so well together, as shown in a series of collaborations. For the two groups’ latest go-round, Little Dragon remixed Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s “Little Blu House,” turning the summer-light rock jam into a dreamy get-down full of rubbery bass and echoing vocals.” Reference.

Little Dragon’s “A New” Tropics remix audio and video

The plethora of available remixes featuring this band is incredible. This one in particular is a real gem and was re-highlighted on Twitter recently. It’s a Clay Moon remix and features footage from Marfa, Texas and New Orleans as Little Dragon toured the United States in March, 2010. Video edited by Zucchini Oregano.

Swedish electro-pop outfit Little Dragon have been getting the remix treatment as of late. First, the dreamy second half of “Empire Ants”, their contribution to Gorillaz’s BNM’d Plastic Beach, was turned into an all-out disco jam; now, “A New”, the opening track from their sophomore effort Machine Dreams, has been reworked by UK dream-beat producer Clay Moon, who works under the moniker Tropics. Moon’s remix of “A New” adds tumbling drums and brings the original’s winding synth line to the forefront. The band made an accompanying video comprised of passing landscapes. – Pitchfork

Ritual Union Remix EP to surface in July?

As confirmed by Prefixmag.com and Musicremedy.com, a Remix EP of Ritual Union tracks will surface before the official release of the third album.

Little Dragon’s third album, Ritual Union, might have been pushed back one week to late July, but the Swedes are making up for it by dropping an additional project earlier in the month. It’s a remix EP filled with reworked versions of choice cuts from Ritual Union. And so far, we know that acts like Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Tensnake are handling the remixes. It’s not clear yet which tracks they will be rearranging, but I expect we will hear new versions of lead single “Nightlight” and “Little Man.” – Prefixmag.com

So much new material to look forward to in the coming months.
